What are some side effects of laser skin resurfacing?

  • Redness, itching, or scabbing.
Following the procedure, it is advised to clean the treated area four to five times a day. To prevent scabs from forming, apply an ointment (like petroleum jelly) to the skin that was treated.

You are likely to feel some itching a few days after the procedure, followed by your skin becoming dry and peeling a week later. This is normal.

You may also notice some continual redness several weeks or months after the procedure. This is also normal.
  • Swelling.
You may experience some common swelling the first day or two after the treatment.

Putting an ice pack on the treated area or sleeping with an extra pillow after treatment will help with your comfort and with swelling.

Please contact us today to discuss other potential side effects associated with this treatment.

How long does the procedure take?

Depending upon how many areas are being treated, it can take just a half hour or up to two hours.

Does laser skin resurfacing hurt?
